About Pool Salt Calculator

Pool Salt Calculator is a free, independent set of tools that helps salt water pool owners work out how much salt to add, how much water their pool holds, and how to bring an over-salted pool back into range.

How we calculate

All results use standard, published chemistry: salinity in parts per million by weight, a US gallon of water weighing about 8.34 lb, a litre of water weighing about 1 kg, and the usual geometric formulas for pool volume. There are no hidden "fudge factors". The formulas are shown on each page so you can check them.

Our recommendations

Salt chlorine generators differ, so we always suggest following the salt range in your own manufacturer's manual and confirming with an independent salt test. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any pool equipment manufacturer or retailer. Brand names, where mentioned, are used only to describe compatibility.
